Vehicle Description The Cadillac Series 62 convertible was first introduced as a mid-range luxury car in 1940.
However, production of this model was put on hold during World War II due to the country's wartime efforts.
It wasn't until 1948 that the production of this car resumed, and the 1949 model was built with significant upgrades and design changes.
Prior to Pearl Harbor, the Cadillac chief engineer Ernest Seaholm was working on an overhead-valve V-8 until Cadillac halted production.
After the war and with a new GM president, the new V-8 was finished in time for the release of the 49 models.
The styling remained almost the same as the 1948 model, but the introduction of the new overhead V-8 offered an impressive 160 horsepower and a peak torque at 1,800 revolutions.
This was used as the basis for many Cadillac generations that followed, and it was also used by many legendary racers.
This engine was not only light and smooth, but it was also packed with performance.
