Vehicle Description This is a RARE Studebaker GT and 1964 was the last year of production of the Gran Turismo Hawk.
Only 1767 total GT models(both domestic and export) were built for 1964 and only approximately 60 models were built with the R1 full Avanti package.
The current owner has owned this car for 25 years, the prior owner had it for 17 years.
The car was sold new in Virginia.
The body is laser straight and the white paint is in excellent condition without any visible flaws.
The grill, chrome, and trim are all in show driver condition.
Fit and finish is excellent and the doors are solid and open and close with ease.
The red bucket seat console interior is original, as well as the dash and gauges, and all components are in excellent condition.
Both front seats recline.
The dash even has the original buyers name plate that was an added touch that Studebaker dealers did for their customers in 1964.
The bench rear seat has a folding armrest.
The only interior replacements are the headliner and carpet.
All trim is still shiny and sharp.
The factory options are power steering, power brakes, factory gauge package with tach and clock, and factory AM/FM radio.
FM radio was rare in 1964! Owner has added AC without compromising the integrity of the car and it is a nice comfort on hot summer days.
Engine is the factory R1 Jet Thrust 289 CID/240 HP with Carter AFB 4 barrel carb, five main bearings, and solid lifters.
It is paired with automatic transmission and floor shifter.
This Hawk started up right away and runs smoothly and idles with ease.
Owner has a build sheet copy from Studebaker.
The car resides just north of Charlotte NC and is available for viewing to serious buyers only by appointment.
